Our Preschool Program
The goal of our preschool program is to create an environment that promotes a positive self-image and stimulates natural curiosity and creativity in each child.
We believe every child is unique and understand that they come to us in different stages of development. This is why we seek to give all children the opportunity to explore, solve problems, and grow at their own pace.

Our Curriculum
We align our curriculum with the Gresham-Barlow School District Kindergarten Readiness Goals. We develop these readiness skills using a wide range of activities. For example, we cultivate the small motor muscles children will need to write in the future through art projects that involve painting, cutting, coloring, and play dough sculpting.
We develop children's listening and communication skills through daily story times and the conversations classmates have with each other while they work on group projects. Working and playing together also gives children the opportunity to develop their social skills.
The Daily Schedule
Each day of our preschool program begins with free play. This allows children to choose the activities that interest them. Examples include: writing center, sensory table, dramatic play, blocks, library loft, and teacher-guided art projects.
After group clean-up, we move to carpet time, which gives us the opportunity to sing songs, have sharing, and talk about our learning themes. The children also eat a nutritional snack each day, which gives them the chance to practice table manners and small group conversation.
After snack, the children return to the play room for a teacher-directed story time.
We also recognize the importance of gross motor play and include it in the daily schedule. Whenever possible, we go outside and play on our on-site playground. If it is raining, we play in a large multi-purpose room furnished with tricycles, balls, a parachute, and a mini-trampoline.
Monthly Themes
Our daily activities, including art projects, stories and nursery rhymes, all centered around a theme that changes every month. For example, the four-year-old class looks at a letter of the alphabet each week as a way of introducing them to the understanding of letters as symbols that make words.
Our teacher selects each theme to enhance and expand the children's understanding of the world around them; as the class grows together over time, the themes grow, too!
Special Events and Field Trips
Thanks to strong support from our parents, we also plan numerous special events and field trips throughout the term. Examples include:
- Gresham Teddy Bear Parade
- Pumpkin Patch
- Thanksgiving Feast
- Christmas Family Activity
- Valentine's Day Party
- Dad's Construction Night
- Farm & First Bus Ride
- Mother's Day Tea
- Pajama & Pancake Day
